U.S. House Republicans are calling for an investigation into tax dollars funneled through the U.S. Agency for International Development program to foundations controlled by billionaire liberal puppeteer George Soros.

Seven congressmen in January are demanding answers from USAID, the State Department, and Obama-appointed ambassador to Macedonia, Jess L. Bailey, over millions in U.S. funding funneled to groups associated with Soros’ Open Society Foundation that the country’s officials allege is being used to undermine the conservative government.

According to Judicial Watch:

The cash flows through the State Department and the famously corrupt U.S. Agency of International Development (USAID), which is charged with providing global economic, development and humanitarian assistance. USAID has allocated about $5 million to leftwing Soros groups in Macedonia since 2012, documents show, and at least $9.5 million has been earmarked by the agency to intervene in the Balkan nation’s governmental affairs for 2016-2021. State Department figures have been tougher to come by and Judicial Watch has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for the numbers. Judicial Watch also fired off a public records request to USAID because the preliminary figures, obtained through various sources in both the U.S. and Macedonia, appear to be incomplete.

The Hungarian-born Soros is among the richest men in the world, and he’s infamous for supporting wildly liberal causes in the United States and abroad, including open borders, same-sex marriage, abortion and other left-wing policies.

He was a major contributor to Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential campaign. Group’s associated with his foundation are behind Black Lives Matter protests, as well as the recent A Day Without A Woman campaign and riots at the University of California Berkeley last month, CBN News reports.

In Macedonia and other countries, the Open Society Foundation funds other radical leftist nongovernmental organizations aimed at overthrowing the government through youth movements, violent protests, and slanted media coverage, among other tactics.

Judicial Watch alleges Baily has helped to steer millions in funding to Soros-linked groups in Macedonia while serving as U.S. ambassador, a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. Macedonia is among the most conservative governments in Europe, with pro-life policies and close ties to Israel, and is situated at the center of the Muslim immigration crisis.

“I have received credible reports that, over the past few years, the U.S. Mission to Macedonia has actively intervened in the party politics of Macedonia, as well as the shaping of its media environment and civil society, often favoring groups of one political persuasion over another,” U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, a Utah Republican, wrote in a January letter to Bailey.

A response from the State Department, which administers the USAID program, alleges the grants were doled out through a “competitive procurement process” to advance U.S. interests “in a non-biased, non-partisan, objective and transparent manner,” CBN News reports.

Rep. Louie Gohmert, of Texas, told the news site members of Macedonia’s parliament are painting a much different picture.

“When you have leaders from other countries say, ‘your government is saying they’ll help us but we have to pass same-sex marriage laws, we have to pay for abortions,’ that’s when you know the United States is no longer deserving of God’s blessing because we’re out trying to force countries to abandon their religious beliefs,” Gohmert said.

Judicial Watch also uncovered similar shenanigans.

“One Macedonian government official interviewed by Judicial Watch in Washington D.C. recently, calls it the ‘Soros infantry,’” according to the watchdog. “One of the Soros’ groups funded the translation and publication of Saul Alinsky’s ‘Rules for Radicals’ into Macedonian. The book is a tactical manual of subversion, provides direct advice for radical street protests and proclaims Lucifer to be the first radical. Thanks to Obama’s ambassador, who has not been replaced by President Trump, Uncle Sam keeps the money flowing so the groups can continue operating and recruiting, sources in Macedonia and the U.S. confirm.”

Gohmert, and six other Republican congressmen from New Jersey, Alabama, Illinois, North Carolina, Nebraska and Arizona are now demanding a full investigation by the Government Accountability Office and Inspector General, CBN News reports.
