In a rare public appearance that lasted less than 10 minutes, media mogul Matt Drudge set the course for a successful Donald Trump presidency.

Joining Michael Savage for the radio host’s 75th birthday in San Francisco on Friday, Drudge took the microphone, fielding calls and offering advice from his 22 years of running the Drudge Report.

“We’re trying to save this young Trump administration,” Drudge told Savage’s audience.

“I do think there is a crisis — on many fronts,” he said.

After fielding a caller’s recommendation urging Trump to “keep it simple,” Drudge said, “Did you know Obama had the stimulus package on his desk before inauguration day?

“What did this Congress give this great man?” Drudge said. “Nothing.”

Drudge believes Trump being Trump is the key to his success.

“I liked Donald the man even before he ran,” Drudge said.

“He is one of the most fascinating Americans that have ever lived in the modern era. “He is a throwback. You talked about an ‘old school.’ He’s ‘old school,'” he said.

“Part of me is his personality is not totally being used here. The charm. The guy who ran the hotel. The guy who had the #1 TV show with ‘The Apprentice,” Drudge said.

“Charisma is needed in this job. This isn’t just getting a bill through Congress, this is also charisma. So I wish they would let him return to Donald Trump — the full Donald Trump.”

To illustrate his point, Drudge went back to a wildly successful interview Trump had with Oprah Winfrey in the 1980s.

“I would sit down and give an interview with Oprah,” Drudge recommended.

“Did you know in the ’80s he did, and she melted in his presence? The audience of women melted in his presence,” he said.

“Why not do a little more to reach out to the other half?” Drudge wondered.
