At the Democrats’ press conference to denounce the Republicans’ health care bill, perhaps reporters should have asked Nancy Pelosi about her own health.
The House Minority Leader was seen repeatedly slurring her statements, uttering unintelligible gibberish, and repeating words over and over on Wednesday.
“Trumpcare means heart-stopping premium increasing for anything from asthma to cancer and the list goes on — on the alphabet,” Pelosi said with her lip curling up like Elvis Presley.
“The fight against Trumpcare is a fight for children,” Pelosi said moments later. “You’ve heard me — many of you talk about (inaudible) Zoe Madison Lynn.”
Pelosi struggled to speak off the top of her head.
“Under Trumpcare,” she said before looking at her notes, “uh, has put Zoe’s future at risk…”
Pelosi stumbled through an accusation that there would be a “crushing age tax. If you’re fif– fif– fifty to sixty-four.”
“Republicans offer to raise healthcares for America’s family must end now,” she proclaimed.
Moments later, Pelosi said, “The list can go on and on, I just named a few of the unfair– few areas of unfairness to America’s working families,” adding, “So the– that– what 57– 60% public p– p– are against that.”
She stumbled through the history of Republican attempts to repeal Obamacare.
“So they moved to the right and set– placed in jeopardy existing, I mean, the essential benefits package,” Pelosi told reporters.
She said “lashi” before correcting herself and saying “relating.”

Moments later, Pelosi said, “Terrible bill, made worse by putting in doubt the exec– uh, the essential benefit package, and now, a hoax, a hoax on pre-existing conditions, pre-existing conditions, pre-existing conditions,” she repeated, either suffering from a brain freeze or wanting to drive home her talking points.
Calling the Republicans “not legitimate,” she said, “they have made it– put this forth to make it look like, ‘oh, we have improved the bill.’
“No, it doesn’t improve the bill, and don’t let the Amer– this is an insult to the intelligence of the American people,” Pelosi declared.
She garbled words as she asked a reporter to say his name, as well as when she tried to say “pre-existing medical condition” when she gave him an answer.

After another reporter asked a question, Pelosi responded, “Thank you for answering that,” and instead of saying “divide,” she said “debide.”
Pelosi looked to staff to help her with the name of the Kaiser Family Foundation as she struggled to recall it.
“Look at some of the experts on this subject, it’s a joke, it’s a very sad, deadly joke,” she said.
As Pelosi’s behavior continues, some Democrats may be wondering if she is a “sad, deadly joke” to their 2018 prospects.
