A contentious congressional town hall meeting boiled over after a constituent attacked Republican Rep. Kevin Cramer and stuffed money in his shirt over Cramer’s support for the Obamacare overhaul.
Video of the incident shows an older man aggressively confronting Cramer during a “Coffee with Cramer” event in Mandan, North Dakota on Thursday.
The man began approaching Cramer before another man jumped up and grabbed him by the neck. Police intervened and took him away.
The original man was ignored by police and he shouted at the congressman, “Will the rich benefit from — if the health care is destroyed, do the rich get a tax break?
“Yes or no?” he demanded, standing feet from Cramer.
“Of course not,” the congressman responded.
The man then advanced and stuffed money in Cramer’s shirt.
“Okay, buddy, that’s too far,” Cramer said as he pulled the bill from his clothing.
The man was then detained by police.
CNN reported the man was “showing his disgust for the congressman’s support for tax cuts for the wealthy.”
It’s not clear whether the attacker was a part of the Indivisible group that is organizing liberals to attend GOP town hall meetings and jeer members of Congress.
He was later identified as Mike Quinn from Hazen, North Dakota.
