A New York City deli worker suffered a broken jaw after two men became enraged over a food order and pelted him with avocados.

Security cameras at the Bronx store captured the moment two men grabbing the fruits and hurling at the unsuspecting worker, who had his back turned to the counter.

After the first hit, the worker could be seen clutching his face. The suspects kept throwing at him until he fell to the floor.

They threw bananas at the workers, as well as watermelons and merchandise around the store.

NBC 4 reports:

Chaos erupted at Stadium Gourmet Deli on East 161st Street after the 21-year-old clerk tried to kick out the two men for causing a scene over their food order.

Police said the suspects were trying to order food, but a deli worker who didn’t speak English couldn’t understand them. They became angry and the 21-year-old clerk tried to kick the two of them out.

“This action, what he do, it’s not normal,” an employee told the news station. “They start arguing with each other and the customer grabbed the avocado and threw it right in his face.”

The clerk suffered a gash, fractures to his face and a broken jaw and was in serious but stable condition after the attack, which was reportedly triggered by a “bungled” order.

The suspects are still at large. From CBS 2:
