Democrats appear to be waking up to the fact that the only people care about the conspiracy theories involving Donald Trump and Russia are Democrats and the mainstream media.

During an appearance on MSNBC on Wednesday, Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy said the focus on Russia is now “a distraction” for Democrats, because, well, the average person doesn’t care.

When asked if Democrats should move left or moderate to try to finally win a congressional election in the Trump era, Murphy responded, “The Democrats have to by hyper focused on an economic message” that contrasts the party from the Republicans.

“The fact that we have spent so much time talking about Russia has been a distraction from what should be the clear contrast between Democrats and the Trump agenda,” Murphy said.

The senator said he likes to ride the bus to gauge what his constituents are thinking about.

“They are never talking about issues like Russia. They are not talking about, frankly, what’s on cable news at night,” he said.

Murphy said his constituents care about wages, education and public safety.

He added Democrats should be “hyper focused on an economic contrast.”

Instead, Nancy Pelosi and Maxine Waters have been hyper focused on wild Russia conspiracy theories.

At virtually every public appearance, Pelosi demands to know what are Trump’s “financial, political and personal” connections to America’s adversary.

“Every day I ask the question: What do the Russians have on Donald Trump?” Pelosi said in May, according to CNN. “He’s always catering to them.”

Waters routinely appears on cable news shows to offer new wild theories about Trump’s alleged connections.

Democrats have a perfect 4-4 losing record in special elections since Trump took office in January.
