By most standards, it’s a simple “yes or no” question, and one would think the answer would have been an easy “yes”.

When DNC Chairman Tom Perez had the opportunity on Sunday to defend Nancy Pelosi as the House Democratic leader, he sidestepped the question.

Appearing on WFAA’s Inside Texas Politics, Perez was asked if Pelosi should “step back from a leadership role and bring in someone else?”

His endorsement was less than ringing.

“Listen, the Affordable Care Act has been a life saver. Nancy Pelosi was one of the two or three people singularly responsible for the passage of the Affordable Care Act,” Perez said.

(How can a handful of people be “singularly” responsible for something?)

After Perez pivoted away from the question to attack President Trump, the host steered him back, where he again dodged.

“What we have to do is make sure we’re out there every single day telling people what we stand for,” Perez said.
