A veteran of Congress since 1988 takes her job so seriously, she had to read the oath of office from her notes after she flubbed reciting it to reporters on Thursday.
While speaking at her weekly press conference, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi attempted to recite the oath of office for dramatic effect while attempting to argue she takes her job seriously.
“As you know, today we’ll be debating what’s called the minibus—minibus,” Pelosi said.
“Not an omnibus—everything—minibus,” she explained to the apparent doofus reporters.
“And it, uh, on the subject of security—as you know, all of us, anyone who serves in government or civically involved takes an oath of office to protect and defend,” she said before stopping and looking down at her notes.
“Support and defend the Constitution of the United States,” she continued.
Holding her right hand up, Pelosi said, “Our first responsibility is to protect the American people and our constitution.
“If people are not safe, how can we proceed in any other way?” she asked reporters.
