Rev. Al Sharpton doesn’t have a problem with making implied threats of violence to the world’s largest sports network.

Sharpton, the host of MSNBC’s “Politics Nation,” was discussing with his panel controversial ESPN reporter Jemele Hill and her recent remarks on Twitter accusing President Trump and his cabinet of being white supremacists.

Sharpton was all too happy to come to the defense of Ms. Hill.

“What many of us in the civil rights community are saying is that if ESPN does this, they’re going to face the wrath of a lot us,” Sharpton said.

For Sharpton, all is fair in love and war, so long as the war is against President Trump.

A TMZsports reporter caught up with Rev. Sharpton on Friday and asked him if he agreed with whether Ms. Hill should be fired for her baseless and overtly racist tweet.

Apparently not aware of the irony of his position when it comes to accusations of racism, Sharpton said, “we are in a climate now…..where people are being punished for expressing their views.

“Whether you agree with the views or not, you’ve got to respect them. We can’t have a country where people’s jobs are threatened because of their views.”

No doubt the reverend is referring to the protection of free speech under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.

It guarantees the freedom of speech, among other things. Notably absent from the amendment is any protection from being fired by your employer. Also absent is freedom from consequences that may result from said speech.
