Pet owners can find virtually any way their heart desires to splurge on their dogs, cats or other animals, for that matter.

Americans spare no cost when it comes to their pets’ appearance, comfort, and general awesomeness.

The American Pet Productions Association (APPA) announced a few months ago that annual industry-wide figures put overall spending in the pet industry higher than ever before — with an amazing $69.51 billion spent in 2017.

And that estimate — stunningly — was up from the $62.75 billion spent in 2016 and the $60.28 billion spent in 2015.

Total U.S. pet industry expenditures have gone up every year that the association has collected data, which it began in 1994. That first year, the industry was worth a relatively paltry $17 billion.

Still, that doesn’t explain some of the crazy items available for anyone willing to plop down the money for them.
