Presumed Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez thinks ride-sharing companies exploit workers, who suffer serious consequences, including death.

Of course, death is no match for socialist hypocrisy.

The new darling of the far-left posted to Twitter in March:

NYC’s fourth driver suicide. Yellow cab drivers are in financial ruin due to the unregulated expansion of Uber. What was a living wage job now pays under minimum.

We need:

  • To call Uber drivers what they are: EMPLOYEES, not contractors
  • Fed jobs guarantee
  • Prep for automation

Fox News reports:

… between April and late June, the Ocasio-Cortez campaign recorded spending nearly $4,000 on Uber for what appears to be 160 rides by its staff, Federal Election Commission (FEC) records reveal.

The payments to California-based Uber ranged from just 59 cents to $82.26 and were filed under “car service.” There’s no data yet for the months of July and August.

A closer look at the records shows Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign also spend thousands on dozens of trips with another ride-sharing company called Juno, which faces a lawsuit for scamming drivers out of a company stock program.

Of course Ocasio-Cortez isn’t the first socialist to say one thing and do the opposite. Her mentor Bernie Sanders, the socialist senator from Vermont, pulled the same stunt when he was running for president.

Sanders described Uber as an “unregulated” company with “serious problems” in an August 2015 interview with Bloomberg, then used the company “100 percent of the time” while traveling on the campaign trail, Watchdog.org reported.

“National Journal published an analysis … that examines how the presidential candidates in the two major parties spend their campaign cash on things like hotels and taxis,” according to the site. “While most candidates use Uber more than taxis to get around, Sanders was one of only a few candidates to report using Uber 100 percent of the time when he or his campaign staff need a ride.”

Hillary Clinton and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee were the only two presidential candidates who spent more on taxis than Uber.
