Sometimes reporters have to exaggerate a bit for dramatic effect and to really capture the viewer’s attention.

That could have been the case today, when a Weather Channel reporter delivered the latest on Hurricane Florence while bracing himself.

Repeatedly rocking back and forth while trying to stand up in the wind in Wilmington, North Carolina, he did his best.

Little did he know two pedestrians were casually walking behind him across the street with relative ease, even talking on their phones.

“This is about as nasty as it’s been,” the reporter says.

Of course, CNN’s Brian Stelter jumped to his defense to excuse what many are calling a faked report.

“This looks bad, obviously,” Stelter tweeted.

“But FWIW, in @MikeSeidel‘s defense, the channel noted that ‘the 2 individuals in the background are walking on concrete’ while he’s on wet grass, and he was ‘undoubtedly exhausted’ from constant live shots…”

Uh huh.

It reminds us of the NBC reporter who told Americans about the heavy flooding in Wayne, New Jersey — from a canoe.

A laughing Matt Lauer tossed it to the reporter, who began to row, only to have two men walk through the ankle-deep water between her boat and the camera.

Who can forget this?
