The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation – “a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy research and educational institute” – hosted perhaps the most divisive women in politics at its annual conference Thursday, and she didn’t let the CBCF’s tax-exempt status prevent her from pushing her wildly liberal agenda.
U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, the 80-year-old career Democrat from California, attended the supposedly nonpartisan conference to discuss “criminal justice reform, truth, wisdom and work with families who have lost loved ones due to police brutality,” according to the group’s Facebook page.
But a video of her remarks at the event shows Waters couldn’t resist talking about her favorite subject – her obsession with impeaching President Trump over alleged and unproven collusion between his campaign and Russia in the 2016 election – and CBCF officials made zero attempts to keep her on course.
“This is a bad time, to put it mildly,” Waters said. “In these United States, with a president the likes of Donald Trump, I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. I think he’s the most deplorable and most despicable human being I’ve ever encountered.
“He’s a liar. He’s dangerous. He’s alienated all of our allies and he’s in bed with Putin, the oligarchs, and the Kremlin of Russia,” she continued. “And I started out early on researching him and his allies and I believe there has been collusion and I’m just waiting on Mueller, our special counsel, to get those dots connected …”
The goal, she said, is to “impeach him!”
Waters then turned to the political circus in the Senate to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.
“They’re saying a sitting president can’t be indicted. And, Mr. Kavanaugh, who is over on the Senate side, basically has said that a sitting president cannot be indicted,” Waters preached. “So why do you think the president picked him to be on the Supreme Court. He picked him because he’s already committed to him.”
There’s more, according to The Daily Signal.
“This president is so outrageous and egotistical, he said, ‘I can pardon anybody, and I can even pardon myself. Well, he may be able to parson himself, but we’re able – if we really do our jobs – to get him impeached,” Waters said. “Let’s see if he can pardon himself from that. I don’t think so.”
Waters staked her re-election on a relentless campaign to impeach President Trump, and has chanted her mantra “Impeach 45” at everything from AIDS fundraisers and other charity events to eulogies, political rallies, talk shows and awards ceremonies.
She’s publicly called for liberals to harass the president and administration in public, vowed to “get” Vice President Mike Pence after impeaching Trump, and continues to claim collusion between the president and Russia despite a complete lack of evidence.
The Daily Signal reports the CBCF forum with Waters was formally titled “The Dangerous Policies of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the Trump Administration.”
The supposedly nonpartisan talk delved into reports of black people facing discrimination for everyday activities like studying and eating at a park, as well as criticism of the Trump administration for unraveling Obama era drug policies, private prisons, and the separation of children recovered with criminal illegal immigrants at U.S.-Mexico border.
At one point, Waters even likened the president to a modern-day slave trader.
“I know it is right to fight against separation of mothers and fathers and families because of what happened to us in slavery,” Waters said. “They sold us on the auction block. They sent the father to one plantation. They sent children to other plantations … They separated us.”
