New York Democratic Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez raged on Twitter over the weekend after being called out for an embarrassing lie about her elite upbringing.
Last week, the 29-year-old socialist took to Twitter to share a picture of the new plaque outside of her office in the U.S. capitol.
“Don’t be fooled by the plaques that we got, I’m still / I’m still Alex from the Bronx,” she captioned the tweet.

While she claims to be “Alex from the Bronx,” the Daily Wire’s Michael Knowles pointed out that she’s actually from a wealthy enclave in upstate New York.
“The average household wealth of the town in which you grew up is $1.2 million,” he wrote.

This angered the New York socialist enough to launch into a deranged tirade.
Yep. As everyone knows, I grew up between two worlds + experienced 1st hand how a child’s zip code can shape their destiny.
It was scrubbing those households’ toilets w/ my mother that I saw and breathed income inequality.
I decided to make a difference.
You decide to do this. https://t.co/kMtbGQo8o8— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) December 28, 2018
She responded by accusing Knowles of “mansplaining” and questioned his intelligence in a tweet that featured three typos.
In which a Republican literally tries to mansplaining *my own childhood* and life to me.
And in true mansplaining form, he’s doing it wrong with an great degree of confidence.
It begs the question: is the GOP really “sending us their best?” 🤔 https://t.co/GNr9NACGoC

Earlier this year, Ocasio-Cortez came under fire when her official campaign website stated that she grew up in the Bronx, which is one of the five boroughs of New York City.
A report from The Daily Mail detailed how Ocasio-Cortez actually grew up in a very wealthy area and a nice home for a better part of her life:
The home, a single-story with a finished basement, most recently sold for $355,000 in 2016. The median annual income in the area is $116,741, compared to the median annual income of $48,315 in Parkchester’s zip code, according to the latest Census data.
While attending Yorktown High School in Westchester, she entered the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair where she won second place for her microbiology project.
She spent a large portion of her life in a wealthy suburb just north of New York City in Westchester county.
As noted in a tweet from Newsmax host John Cardillo, she grew up in a very expensive home before going off to an Ivy League school.

She’s hardly a “girl from the Bronx” who had a humble upbringing, which is what she desperately wants people to believe.
More importantly, this is the latest example showing that Ocasio-Cortez cannot take criticism without throwing a temper tantrum.
Earlier this month, she launched into another Twitter tirade after a Politico report claimed she was working with a far-left group to organize progressive opposition to Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., who apparently isn’t progressive enough.
Prior to that, she whined that Republicans criticizing her on Twitter are “stalking” and obsessing over her. She apparently believes anyone who calls her out for making false or inaccurate statements now means they are obsessed with her.
Perhaps her most laughable comments came over the summer when she accused Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro of “catcalling” her when he challenged her to a debate.
In August, Shapiro released a video offering to donate $10,000 to Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign if she agreed to appear on his “Sunday Special.”
Shapiro went as far as offering to donate the money to charity if she would sit down with him and have a civil conversation about real issues facing the country.
Soon after The Daily Wire’s Ryan Saavedra tweeted that Ocasio-Cortez hadn’t responded to the debate offer, the socialist fired off an incendiary tweet claiming Shapiro was sexist and likened his “unsolicited” debate request to an unwanted “catcall.”
Just like catcalling, I don’t owe a response to unsolicited requests from men with bad intentions.
And also like catcalling, for some reason they feel entitled to one. pic.twitter.com/rsD17Oq9qe

Ocasio-Cortez loves to be the center of attention, but is quick to completely melt down the second anyone criticizes her for anything.
