New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio was staging a press conference in a subway station on Friday, and it didn’t go off quite as planned.
Newsday reporter Matthew Chayes was inside the station when de Blasio attempted to swipe his card to enter.
He swiped…and he swiped…and he swiped.
How many swipes? pic.twitter.com/dcVr6yGZ1f

Someone eventually handed the mayor another card and he entered.
He casually strolled past the assembled media, likely hoping no one noticed.
It was a similar moment to when faux New Yorker Hillary Clinton tried to look like a commoner by riding the subway as a presidential candidate in 2016.
It took a confused Hillary five swipes before she finally entered the system for her photo op journey.
