Democrats are going bonkers over the idea of former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz running for president in 2020 as an Independent candidate.
Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-MA, and former 2016 Clinton campaign manager John Podesta all lashed out at Schultz on Tuesday.
During an interview on Fox News, Perez said that if Schultz runs, he should only run as a Democrat.
When host Bret Baier asked about backlash to a potential Schultz third-party run, Perez practically begged him to run on the Democratic side.
“I have respect for Howard Schultz,” Perez said. “If he chooses to get in the race, I hope he gets in in the Democratic party. We’ll treat him very fairly.”
Perez also complained that Schultz running as a third-party candidate run would split the vote and help President Donald Trump get re-elected.
While appearing on CNN’s “Out Front,” Podesta mocked the former CEO for his potential presidential bid.
He also spread the new Democratic talking point, saying a third party run by Schultz would only help the president.
“No, I don’t think he should run. I heard Bill say he’s not doing it for the money. I guess he’s doing it because the weather is nice in Seattle. I think Mike Bloomberg got this on a independent can’t win,” Perez said.
“All he’ll do is end up splitting the Trump vote. I would think Mr. Schultz would rather have his legacy the fact he became a billionaire selling coffee than he helped get Donald Trump re-elected of the United States,” he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Warren took to Twitter to attack Schultz because he questioned her wealth tax proposal.
In response to Schultz calling Warren’s tax hike proposal a “ridiculous” idea, Warren wrote: “What’s ‘ridiculous’ is billionaires who think they can buy the presidency to keep the system rigged for themselves while opportunity slips away for everyone else.”
She added: “The top 0.1%, who’d pay my #UltraMillionaireTax, own about the same wealth as 90% of America. It’s time for change.”

Democrats are livid because they believe if Schultz runs for president as a third party candidate, he will pull votes away from the Democratic nominee.
As such, they are laying the groundwork and spreading the talking point that he will only help Trump.
Given this trend with intra-party fighting will likely only continue to get worse, its clear that Democrats are already losing their minds over the thought of Trump winning re-election and serving a second term in office.
