Is Joe Biden already looking for a running mate?

The former vice president is rumored to be just weeks away from announcing that he run for president and seek the Democratic nomination.

But despite the fact that he hasn’t even officially announced his 2020 bid, it appears there’s already an interest in who he should choose as his potential vice president.

Chelsea Hassler, the vice president of the Zeno Group, took to Twitter on Tuesday to share insight on advertisements being run on Facebook regarding the 2020 presidential election.

Hassler first shared an image showing that former Texas Rep. Robert “Beto” O’Rourke, who is rumored to be gearing up for a 2020 run, launched 330 ads on Facebook in the last 24 hours.

Hassler then found that the National Democratic Training Committee is running ads to test the waters on who Biden should choose as his potential running mate: Sen. Kamala Harris or O’Rourke.

Both ads have the exact same message, but one shows Biden standing with Harris, who is running for president, and the other with him standing by O’Rourke.

“Listen, if we want to DEFEAT Trump in 2020, we’re going to need strong, progressive candidates running against him. And experts are saying if Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourke run on the same ticket, we’d have a legitimate shot at CRUSHING Trump!” the advertisement states.

Each respective ad then asks users to vote on whether a Biden/Beto or Biden/Harris ticket can “kick Trump out of office in 2020.”

According to sources and Democratic lawmakers, a 2020 Biden run is all but certain.

A senior Democratic lawmaker, who requested anonymity, told The Hill on Tuesday that Biden is definitely running and will announce his candidacy in the coming weeks.

“I’m giving it a shot,” Biden reportedly said during a phone call with a House Democratic lawmaker within the past week.

Should he make it official, this would be the third time Biden has run for president after failed bids in 1988 and 2008.

It’s also interesting to see that he may already be looking at possible running mates, a sign that he may believe he’s already got the Democratic nomination locked up.
