Slavery was abolished in America 154 years ago, but some folks still can’t let it go.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, one of many Democrats running for president in 2020, thinks it’s time to have a long talk about setting things right, despite the fact that no one alive today was involved in the slave trade.

“Slavery is a stain on America & we need to address it head on,” Warren posted to Twitter Monday. “I believe it’s time to start a national, full-blown conversation about reparations. I support the bill in the House to support a congressional panel of experts so that our nation can do what’s right & begin to heal.”

The tweet was among several promoting her #WarrenTownHall on CNN, all in support of socialist policies that make it clear the senator from Massachusetts is a slave to trendy politics and pandering for votes. Warren wants “100% coverage with #MedicareForAll,” more government subsidized housing, #GunReformNow, an #UltraMillionareTax on “the richest of the rich,” and “all hands on deck to pass the #GreenNewDeal.”

The Green New Deal is freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s socialist plan to “fundamentally transform” America to thwart climate change through government guaranteed jobs and income; the elimination of gas cars, planes and other vehicles; rebuilding of every structure in America to improve energy efficiency; and other wildly expensive and impractical government mandates.

All top Democrats who have officially declared their candidacy support the Green New Deal, but Warren is among just a handful talking about reparations and she’s undoubtedly using the issue as a way to stand out in what’s shaping up to be a very crowded primary.

The Root reports:

Early presidential hopefuls like Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, Julian Castro and Marianne Williamson have been open to the idea of reparations – a program that experts say could run the country trillions of dollars.

Others, like Cory Booker, haven’t directly endorsed reparations but support programs like “Baby Bonds” that would help the lowest income families regardless of race.

Darrick Hamilton, executive director of the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity at Ohio State University, told the news site the concept of reparations contains three components: acknowledgment; restitution; and reconciliation.

“We are at a moment where we’re really grappling with our history, again with integrity, to understand that people aren’t poor because they simply make behavioral choices,” he said.

Warren’s CNN Town Hall took place in Jackson, Mississippi, where she focused heavily on class and identity politics to promote Obamacare, rail against the president’s border wall, and push to eliminate the Electoral College.

“The border wall isn’t about security, or making America safer. It’s a monument to hate and division, and I won’t support it,” Warren said.

That was Warren’s answer to the question: What will you do to control the influx of migrants?

Warren’s CNN Town Hall is the latest in a series focused on Democratic presidential candidates that’s also featured openly gay South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Kamala Harris of California, and former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, who is mulling a run as an Independent, among others.
