Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez admits that “every once in a while” she dreams of running for president, but at the moment she doesn’t “have like a 10-year plan or a five-year plan or anything.”
AOC spoke with Yahoo! News’ Skullduggery podcast Sunday about a variety of issues, and the conversation eventually turned to her thoughts on the 2020 election and her own sights for higher office.

“I don’t know, I really don’t know,” the freshman congresswoman said of her next steps in politics. “I think about it every once in a while but … this is pretty hard already.”
She wouldn’t discuss any specifics, and instead deflected with “I just want to be useful.”
“I just want to be most useful and I’m not trying to kind of impose some personal ambition,” AOC told the podcast. “I think that if a window opens and I feel like I can do well and do better and offer more to people, I could consider it. But I also don’t have like a 10-year plan or a five-year plan or anything.”
The political daydreaming followed questions on AOC’s thoughts about the current growing crop of Democrat contenders for 2020. The hosts noted that Ocasio-Cortez campaigned for socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders in 2016 and questioned whether she plans to support his campaign again this time around.
“I mean, I’ve very supportive of Bernie’s run. … I haven’t endorsed anybody but I’m very supportive of Bernie,” she said.
The socialist also had good things to say about Elizabeth Warren, the Democrat Senator from Massachusetts who identifies herself as a capitalist.
“I also think what Elizabeth Warren has been bringing to the table is truly remarkable, truly remarkable and transformational,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
Warren last summer touted that she’s a “capitalist to my bones,” but has also signed onto Sanders’ Medicare-for-all proposal in the Senate that would virtually abolish private health insurance, Vox reports.
Regardless, the current Democratic frontrunner to take on Trump in 2020 is vice president Joe Biden, who has yet to declare his candidacy.
AOC told the Skullduggery podcast she’d support Biden as the Democratic nominee if he get that far, but she’s not particularly excited about the prospect.
“Like, I will support whoever the Democratic nominee is,” she said, adding that Biden “does not particularly animate me right now” because of “a lot of issues.”
“I can understand why people would be excited by that. This idea that we can go back to the good old days with Obama with Obama’s vice president, and I think there’s an emotional element to that,” AOC said.
“But I don’t want to go back,” she said. “I want to go forward.”
