The far-left group that claims credit for the election of socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is already attacking newly announced Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden.

The move signals a growing civil war within the party, with far-left personalities like Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, and the Justice Democrats trying to pull the party leftward, as Biden and others are arguably more moderate.

“Joe Biden is out-of-touch with the center of energy in the Democratic Party today,” the group tweeted this morning.

It went on to claim the future of the party rests in socialist proposals such as Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, Free college, Rejecting corporate money and Ending mass incarceration and deportation.

The group hit Biden because he voted:

  • For the Iraq War
  • For Bankruptcy Reform Act
  • For mass incarceration
  • Against school desegregation, and
  • Against marriage equality.

Last week, the group’s star, Ocasio-Cortez, verbally shrugged her shoulders over the prospect of a Biden candidacy.

A couple weeks ago, AOC spoke with Yahoo! News’ Skullduggery podcast Sunday about the presidential race.

“I mean, I’ve very supportive of Bernie’s run. … I haven’t endorsed anybody but I’m very supportive of Bernie,” she said.

The socialist also praised Elizabeth Warren.

“I also think what Elizabeth Warren has been bringing to the table is truly remarkable, truly remarkable and transformational,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

Ocasio-Cortez told the Skullduggery podcast she’d support Biden as the Democratic nominee if he gets that far, but she is unmoved by the prospect.

“Like, I will support whoever the Democratic nominee is,” she said, adding that Biden “does not particularly animate me right now” because of “a lot of issues.”

“I can understand why people would be excited by that. This idea that we can go back to the good old days with Obama with Obama’s vice president, and I think there’s an emotional element to that,” AOC said.

“But I don’t want to go back,” she said. “I want to go forward.”
