Congresswoman Maxine Waters tore into Trump on CNN over the weekend after the president attacked progressive Democrats on Twitter, a controversy the elderly lawmaker is hoping to leverage in her quest to impeach the president.

CNN’s Ana Cabrera on Sunday fixated on Trump’s tweets to Justice Democrats and spoke with Waters to document the “progressive” Democrat’s predictable outrage for the record. Trump criticized Justice Democrats on Twitter and suggested Socialist Congresswoman Ilhan Omar and her colleagues should “go back to help fix the broken and crime infested place from which they came” before criticizing the United States.

Waters went straight for the jugular.

“I am surprised that anyone would be shocked by the racism of this president. The president is an illegitimate racist occupying the White House who has defined himself over and over again,” Waters said.

“Yes, he attacked these four women of color who are members of Congress who have been elected from their districts to come to the Congress of the United States and represent the people in their districts,” she said. “They are certainly legitimate. He is not.

“This is a president who has defined himself as a sexual predator, a liar, a con man. This is a man who has cheated young people who went to the fake university that he set up thinking that they were going to become developers, etcetera. This is a man who lied about the president of the United States Obama on this birther movement. But don’t forget, long before he was elected to office he tried to get the Central Park Five death penalty. He wanted them killed even though they were found not to be guilty of the crimes that they were being accused of,” Waters ranted.

“So what is it about anybody that would be surprised about what he would say or what he does?”

Waters blamed herself and her colleagues in the House for the perceived problems.

“If there’s anything we should be taking about is the lack of the responsibility of the Congress of the United States to impeach him. He needs to be impeached. He has defined himself thoroughly. He is dangerous. He is divisive. And this is someone who does not understand or appreciate the Constitution of the United States of America. He needs to go,” Waters preached.

She told Cabrera that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is bungling the situation by pushing back against calls for an impeachment inquiry, which was introduced by Justice Democrat Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, one of the women targeted by Trump.

“I disagree with Nancy Pelosi and I’ve said that over and over again,” she said, pointing out that her calls to “Impeach 45” began long before Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation concluded there’s no evidence the president’s campaign colluded with Russia in 2016.

“I started two years ago when I saw him even in the campaign against his own colleagues in the Republican Party, when I understood there was collusion going on with Putin and the oligarchs and the Kremlin in Russia,” Waters ranted. “When I saw this president basically obstruct justice before our very eyes, I’ve known for a long time that he should be impeached.

“Yes, I’ve been on that for a long time and I disagree with anybody who thinks differently,” Waters said.

Waters went on to allege the Trump administration is intentionally creating poor conditions at border facilities to rally his political base, “to demonstrate to his supporters that our country is somehow being undermined and destroyed by who he calls rapists and criminals.”

Waters alleged a recent border facilities tour by Vice President Mike Pence was simply a publicity stunt to showcase the illegal immigrants “captured” by Border Patrol agents. She also ripped Sen. Lindsey Graham for participating in the tour. Graham told CNN he would rather hold the illegal immigrants for 400 days than to release the repeat offenders.

Waters described Graham as a “lying senator and basically another sycophant” hell bent on protecting President Trump, and she promised Democrats will target the Republican in the next election.

The 80-year-old career politician from Los Angeles told CNN she spent her Sunday passing out flyers in areas where illegal immigrants congregate in the city to warn them about announced Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids, and how to avoid arrest.

“I went out early this morning and I went to two of the biggest Catholic churches in my district and I passed out flyers and I asked them to beware, that if anybody knocked on their doors don’t let them in,” Waters said.
