Democrat presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke is making a production of his promise to confiscate “weapons of war” like AR-15 rifles and similar semi-automatic firearms.

O’Rourke reiterated his promise that “hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15” if elected during the Democratic presidential debate last week, after repeatedly making the same claim in the media in the weeks prior.

The gun-grabbing hysteria prompted an Arizona firearms dealer to offer a new “Beto Special” on AR-15s with “such a low price that EVERY AMERICAN can afford one,” and the response has been overwhelming.

“Our $349.99 AR deal sold out in less than 4 hours,” Alpha Dog Firearms posted to Facebook last week. “We’re trying to process the orders and work on getting more special deals for our good friend gun grabber Beto.”

The retailer has since expanded the sale with the promo code “BETO” on seven different firearms, which is good for as much as $200 off some models of alleged assault weapons. The $349 deal, however, was a limited time offer.

The special deal was undoubtedly takes aim O’Rourke’s recent grandstanding at an Arkansas gun show, where he complained about the availability of cheap guns and highlighted his mission to wrest them away from lawful gun owners.

“We won’t solve the challenges we face with half steps, half measures, or half the country. That’s why we’re going everywhere, including to gun shows, to meet Americans where they are – and bring them into our campaign,” O’Rourke posted to Twitter last month.

“In Arkansas, I listened to gun owners and seller – and appreciated hearing their perspectives,” he posted, along with an image of his visit to the gun show. “But as the plan we released yesterday says, if I’m president, you wouldn’t be able to buy weapons of war for $395. You wouldn’t be able to buy them at all.”

For now, both gun shop owners and O’Rourke himself are profiting off his promises for a government mandated gun grab, which includes confiscation of so-called “assault weapons,” high-capacity magazines, and suppressors.

“O’Rourke’s proposal has become central to his presidential bid. After he passionately defended his buyback proposal on the debate stage last week, his campaign attempted to seize on the moment to fill its fundraising coffers, offering a shirt on its online store that reads: ‘Hell yes we’re going to take your AR-15,’” NBC News reports.

O’Rourke, of course, is only one of several Democrats promising to take away or outlaw certain guns and firearm accessories if elected, with Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg and others proposing immediate government intervention.

O’Rourke’s position on gun control has shifted sharply over the last year, from promises not to confiscate guns in 2018 to promises to do exactly that in 2019.

“If you own it, keep it. Continue to use it responsibly,” O’Rourke said of AR-15s last year, according to TownHall.

There are currently more than 16 million privately owned AR-15s in the United States, Breitbart confirmed with the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
