Socialist Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is proud her daughter is a leader in the left’s fight against the climate in the United States, a mission the 16-year-old has successfully melded with other social justice causes to promote herself in the media.
Isra Hirsi, oldest child of Omar and second husband Ahmed Hirsi, launched the climate justice group “U.S. Youth Climate Strike” around the time her mother took office in January. Isra Hirsi started the group as a co-director with Denver activist Haven Coleman, but has since wrested full control over the organization.
So far this year, Hirsi’s group has convinced millions of students in 120 countries to skip school to push the Green New Deal, the radical socialist plot for “climate change” backed by Omar.
Today, millions more across the world ditched class to insist politicians fix the allegedly warming planet, and Omar thinks it’s great.

“It’s really important when we get to see young people who are excited about not just waiting for their time to lead but are leading and recognizing that they have space to take up and, um, and policies to propose that will impact the way their future is going to look,” Omar told the Swedish television station SVT.
“My daughter, who’s 16, is the leader here in the United States for the Youth Climate Strike, and she’s inspired by people like Greta” Thunberg, a Swedish teen who started the first youth climate in her country, Omar said.
The conversation occurred at outside a Foreign Affairs Committee Hearing Room on Wednesday, when Thunberg and other teen climate activists testified before the committee. It was the perfect opportunity for Omar to promote her daughter, who has been featured in numerous liberal publications, from Vice to Teen Vogue. In multiple profiles, Isra Hirsi admits she didn’t care much about the environment until recently, when she realized the issue intersected with her true passion – Black Lives Matter and “social justice.”
“So I know she is not only impacting policymakers, and world leaders, she’s also impacting young people to take the lead,” Omar told SVT.
Of course, Omar couldn’t resist the temptation to take shots at Republicans who opted out of the committee hearing, alleging her GOP colleagues are denying the supposed “crisis.”
Both Omar and the students who testified presented climate change as a looming man-made disaster overwhelmingly supported by “scientists,” which it’s not. The Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine’s Global Warming Petition Project counts 31,487 American scientists, including 9,029 with PhDs, who oppose the so-called “scientific consensus” on climate research.
“There was a lot of empty Republican seats in there, will they listen?” SVT’s Carina Bergfeldt asked Omar.
The congresswoman didn’t hesitate.
“I will just echo what Greta said, it’s not about talking, right? It’s about making sure we’re listening to science, and my Republican colleagues have a long way to go,” Omar said with a laugh. “I hope at some point, um, that, that switch happens for them and they do realize that there is a place for science and we must be guided by facts, and not just by opinions that are made up in their own minds.”
