Cell phone video appears to show a missile hitting the Ukrainian passenger jet over Iran, sending it crashing to the ground on Wednesday.

Video posted on Twitter on Thursday shows a streak of light across the sky and an explosion, followed by a loud bang.

A driver on a motorway caught the plane near the ground, before it exploded, lighting up the night sky:

Surveillance video near the crash site captured the moment of impact.

It appeared to show a body flying through the air, and fiery debris scattered across the ground:

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose country lost 63 citizens on the plane, told reporters today that intelligence indicates Iran shot the commercial passenger plane down.

“We have intelligence from multiple sources, including our allies and our own intelligence. The evidence indicates that the plane was shot down by an Iranian surface-to-air missile,” Trudeau said, according to ABC News.

“This may well have been unintentional,” he added. “This new information reinforces the need for a thorough investigation into this matter.”

AFP reports “82 Iranians, 63 Canadians, 10 Swedes, four Afghans, three Germans and three Britons were on board, as well as 11 Ukrainians — including nine crew.”
