House Speaker Nancy Pelosi likes to tell audiences when she delivers an “applause line.”

Maybe that’s what Mayor Pete will have to start doing.

Buttigieg was campaigning in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa on Tuesday and delivered what he thought was an applause line, but no one responded.

Buttigieg’s knack for boring his audience into a stupor is a trait he shares with some of the nation’s top establishment politicians.

Over the years, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has regularly reminds her audiences to make some noise when her “applause lines” fall flat.

Pelosi was forced to goad her audience into applause during a speech honoring Bob Dole in 2018, and again during a speech to mayors last January.

A few months later, she used the tactic again at a March press event to shame the crowd into applauding her efforts to preserve Obamacare, CNS News reports.
