Joe Biden has repeatedly refused to talk about his newest grandchild, but he may have slipped while speaking to a voter in New Hampshire today and revealed that his son, Hunter, has a new daughter.

While visiting with volunteers at his New Hampshire headquarters in Manchester on Friday, Biden was speaking to someone on speakerphone, who told him she is a mother.

“I have five granddaughters,” he said, adding, “Granddaughters are even better than daughters.”

They “not only love you, they always like you,” he said.

Recent reporting has indicated Biden has four granddaughters.

The Washington Examiner reported in December:

Hunter Biden is the father of three daughters — Naomi, 24, Finnegan, 19, and Maisy, 18 — from his 24-year marriage to Kathleen Buhle. The two divorced in 2017. In addition to “Baby Doe,” Joe Biden has two other grandchildren: Natalie, 15, and Robert “Hunter” II, 13, whose father was Beau Biden, who died in 2015. (emphasis added)

That’s four. So did Biden misstate the number of granddaughters he has, or did he acknowledge Hunter’s newest child is a girl?

Meanwhile, Hunter is due in court next week, the Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports:

Hunter Biden must appear Jan. 29 in a Batesville courtroom and explain why he shouldn’t be held in contempt for violating court orders to provide financial information in his Arkansas paternity case.

Independence County Circuit Judge Holly Meyer signed an “Order to Appear and Show Cause” on Monday, a day when Arkansas courts were closed to honor the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The judge’s order was filed into the court record Tuesday.

The one-sentence order was prepared by Clinton and Jennifer Lancaster, attorneys for Lunden Alexis Roberts, the mother of Biden’s 16-month-old child.

“My understanding is impeachment proceedings are ongoing,” Lancaster told the paper. “I have not received any subpoena. I don’t believe we have any stake in the impeachment proceedings. We don’t have any stake in it whatsoever. We need his income so we can determine child support.”
