Don’t think America will vote for socialism? Think again.

A shocking new poll from ABC News/Washington Post reveals a full 20 percent of American adults surveyed believe Bernie Sanders is “too conservative.”

The poll of 1,066 adults conducted Feb. 14-17 by Langer Research Associates finds a sizable amount of Americans have a palate for Sanders’s progressivism.

Twenty percent of respondents who identified as “Leaned Democrats” say they would be more likely to vote for Sanders as a “democratic socialist.” Only 8 percent said they would be less likely. 67 percent didn’t care.

They have less tolerance for just a “socialist.” Twelve percent say they would be more likely to vote for a “socialist,” while 13 percent said they would be less likely.

Among all adults, “about a third … call Sanders ‘too liberal,’ compared with about a quarter who say the same of Biden or Bloomberg. That said, 20 percent call Sanders too conservative,” the poll finds.

Other key findings: Joe Biden’s support has crashed. In mid-January, he enjoyed front-runner status and the support of 28 percent of Democrats. Now it’s just 17 percent. Bloomberg comes in third with 14 percent.

The poll finds voters believe Sanders has the “best chance” to defeat President Trump.

But the same poll shows Joe Biden beating Trump by the widest margin: 52 percent to 45 percent. Sanders would defeat Trump 51 percent to 45 percent.

The survey also finds most Democrats’ motivation is to defeat Trump. Fifty-eight percent of respondents say they want a candidate “who can defeat Trump,” while 38 percent want one who “agrees with me.”
