“Everybody” knew of Harvey Weinstein’s attacks on women, Rose McGowan says. Including Ben Affleck.
McGowan implicated Affleck during an interview with Ronan Farrow released on Wednesday.
"I was crying…and I was like, 'I just came from Harvey's,' and he's like, 'God damn it. I told him to stop doing that.'" @rosemcgowan on seeing Ben Affleck after she says Weinstein assaulted her—and the many others she says looked the other way. Recounting a time she had been raped and then had to appear in public with Affleck, McGowan said, “I was crying…and I was like, ‘I just came from Harvey’s,’ and he’s like, ‘Goddammit. I told him to stop doing that.'”
She said she didn’t tell Affleck she had been raped. He just knew.
“It’s a continual thing of everybody knowing, everyone being a part of it, unwittingly or pro-actively,” McGowan said.
McGowan said Weinstein’s actions didn’t occur “in a bubble” and that many people knew.
“I was his morning appointment. Most likely he had an afternoon one, too.”
McGowan praised the recent conviction of the Hollywood titan as “triumph of the will, a triumph of the system, a triumph of the jury”.
But, she added, “I probably am not going to be free of him until he’s dead or I’m dead,” according to The Guardian.
