House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is dropping all pretenses about her expectations for the future and is now vowing “I will be the Speaker if we win.”

Tal Kopan, Washington correspondent for the San Francisco Chronicle, posted about the future Speaker’s comments during a meeting with the editorial board on Wednesday.

“Pelosi scoffs at a question about her future in leadership to @sfchronicle editorial board. ‘I don’t even think about it,’ she says. ‘I believe I will be the speaker if we win.”

Folks on Twitter sounded off on Pelosi’s presumption, which flies in the face of dozens of House Democratic candidates campaigning on a promise not to support the 78-year-old San Francisco politician for speaker if the election goes their way.

“Someone send Pelosi the definition of ‘hubris,’ stat,” Twitter user “Some random thoughts” posted.

“God, that sounds a lot like Hillary’s attitude right before she lost the presidency, SuperEliteCitizen added.

It’s at least the second time Pelosi has assured America she will reign supreme in the House next year.

At an event in Texas in late September, Showtime host Alex Wagner put the leadership question to Pelosi and she didn’t hesitate.

“If the Democrats take the house,” Wagner said, “are you going to be the person with the gavel in your hand, and are you going to be the person that calls up Donald Trump to try to work with him?”

“Yes, I anticipate that I’ll be the person with the gavel in hand, but I haven’t asked anybody for a vote, in fact, I’ve told the candidates, ‘Do whatever you have to do, just win baby,'” Pelosi said, apparently encouraging Democrats to say whatever will get them elected.

“I do think that I’m in very good shape with my caucus,” she said.

Pelosi’s track record for predicting politics isn’t the best, as evidenced by her interviews with the media in the run up to the 2016 presidential election.

In one now famous clip, Recode Decode host Kara Swisher asked Pelosi about how Trump had “sort of beaten the odds” to gain momentum in 2016, but Pelosi wasn’t concerned.

“Well he has, but you know what, he’s not going to be president,” Pelosi declared. “Donald Trump is not going to be president of the United States, take it to the bank. I guarantee it.”
