Democrats locked in a standoff with President Trump over the southern border wall may be willing to shut down the government to get what they want, but they’re not willing to live without a wall around their own properties.

In a recent interview, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi described Trump’s promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border as “immoral, expensive, ineffective, not something that people do between countries,” according to the Harvard Gazette.

It is, however, something Pelosi does with her neighbors.

Images show the presumptive incoming speaker’s Napa Valley vineyard is surrounded with a rock wall, along with a large metal gate at the entrance, presumably to keep the unwashed masses out of her beautiful estate.

Other high-profile Democrats who have spoken out against a barrier to stop the steady flow of illegal immigrants and drugs across the border use similar structures to protect their own families.

Failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s estate in Chappaqua, New York is surrounded by an imposing white wall, complete with armed guards stationed at the entrance.

Former President Barack Obama and wife Michelle also live behind a large brick wall surrounding their newly fortified home in Washington, D.C.

Both have mocked the president for promising to protect Americans with the same type of structure.

The Trump-supporting duo Diamond and Silk highlighted the hypocrisy in the documentary Dummycrats, presented by The American Mirror this fall.

The movie also exposed just how easy it currently is to cross the border. Kyle Olson, executive producer and founder of The American Mirror, interviewed a border agent along one stretch of dessert that was protected by only three pieces of barbed wire held up by sticks. Other areas contain ineffective Normandy barriers, or none at all.

“In the movie, I show how easy it is to cross over one of the barriers. I mean it takes 10 seconds,” Olson told The Epoch Times. “If someone is really determined to get over the border they’re going to do it.”

Despite claims to contrary, walls are effective at keeping undesirables out, and that’s why Democrats erect them around their own properties. Others have pointed to Democratic support of the wall protecting Israel, and the massive stone barrier surrounding the Vatican, as prime examples.

Regardless, Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have vowed to oppose funding for a border wall at all costs, even if it punishes hard-working Americans who elected them to office.

House Republicans approved a government funding measure that includes more than $5 billion the president requested to fund the border wall, just days after Pelosi claimed they didn’t have the votes to get it done.

The measure is now in the Senate, where Schumer is doing everything in his power to shut it down.

“In a short time, the Senate will take part in a pointless exercise to demonstrate to our House colleagues and the president what everyone here already knows. There is not the votes for an expensive, taxpayer funded border wall. So, President Trump, you will not get your wall,” he said, according to National Review.

“Abandon your shutdown strategy,” he said. “You’re not getting your wall today, next week, or on January 3 when Democrats take control of the House.”

Meanwhile, conservative pundits like Rush Limbaugh are explaining why the Democrat opposition to the border wall has more to do with their political careers than what’s actually best for the country.

“They could never, ever sign on to an assist in the funding and construction of a wall. You know why? Because walls work,” Limbaugh said, according to The Washington Times. “These people that we’re talking about put walls around their homes and their estates. They know that walls work, and that’s precisely why there isn’t going to be one on the southern border, because if there ever is a wall, guess what? We finally will have control over who gets into this country and who doesn’t.

“The wall is the single greatest obstruction to the future of the Democrat Party. They do not want a wall. They will not support a wall. A wall would bring about the end of the Democrat Party. They’ll argue about money, government shutdowns. But they can’t survive as a party if that wall is ever built. That’s their permanent underclass that would not be permitted to enter the country,” Limbaugh told his 14 million listeners.
