Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is clarifying one of the main tenets of her Green New Deal, but not the part about it costing an estimated $7 trillion.

During an appearance on the Showtime series “Desus & Mero,” the New York lawmaker was asked about “farting cows” in the Green New Deal “frequently asked questions” section.

“In the deal, what we talk about is, it’s true, is that we need to take a look at factory farming, period. It’s wild,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

“And so, it’s not to say you get rid of agriculture. It’s not to say we’re going to force everybody to go vegan or anything crazy like that,” Ocasio-Cortez added.

She continued, “But it’s to say, listen, we’ve got to address factory farming. Maybe we shouldn’t be eating a hamburger for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Like, let’s keep it real.”

The original FAQ document released by Ocasio-Cortez’s office earlier this month explicitly described “farting cows” as a key contributor of harming the planet.

“We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero, emissions in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast,” the document originally stated, but was later removed in the official proposal submitted to Congress.

The core of the socialist legislation is to require the U.S. to eliminate “pollution and greenhouse gas emissions” and meet “100 percent of the power demand in the United States through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources” within 10 years.

The legislation calls for every single building in the United States to be “upgraded or replaced.”

That’s right, that means taxpayers will be stuck footing the bill for millions of buildings in the country being upgraded or completely replaced.

The socialist “Green New Deal” begins by claiming “human activity is the dominant cause of observed climate change over the past century.”

The measure then asserts that “a changing climate is causing sea levels to rise and an increase in wildfires, severe storms, droughts, and other extreme weather events that threaten human life.”

Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Ed Markey, who co-sponsored the legislation, go on to argue that the United States will lose $500 billion in annual output by 2100 due to climate change.

If true, that’s a very tiny percentage compared to the estimated $7 trillion that the “Green New Deal” will cost taxpayers to implement.

In fact, the legislation is so bad that even liberal Union leaders are predicting the socialist overhaul would lead to catastrophic job losses in a variety of industries.

But Ocasio-Cortez is apparently far more concerned with farting cows than the possibility of her legislation bankrupting the country.
